DESCRIPTION

Performs intermediate work providing supervision support for youth participating in the Outdoor Behavioral Health Program, performs a variety of other duties in support of the Juvenile Probation department, as requested; performs related work as apparent or assigned.  

This is a safety sensitive position and is subject to random and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  1. Assists the Outdoor Behavioral Health Program supervisor with juveniles in adventure-based programs, community service, trail work and other community-based events including overnight trips. 
  2. Communicates with "on-call" staff responsible for proper radio communication with Douglas County Dispatch.
  3. Performs a variety of clerical duties including, but not limited to, filing and answering phones, documenting activities and contacts, completing reports as appropriate and necessary, utilizing computer software programs. 
  4. Follows the directives given by the Outdoor Behavior Health Program Supervisor/Senior Juvenile Probation Officer.
  5. Works under pressure, exercises good judgment and makes sound and timely decisions in emergency and non-emergency situations.
  6. Assists with various outdoor activities including, but not limited to, kayaking, rock-climbing, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, snow camping, backpacking, avalanche training, snowboarding, adventure challenge course and wilderness survival.
  7. Monitors and maintains the safety of juveniles during transportation in the Outdoor Education Program.
  8. Drives a motor vehicle and transport juveniles to specified locations. 
  9. Represents the County with dignity, integrity, and a spirit of cooperation in all relationships with staff and the public. 
  10. Contributes effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives, and activities.


QUALIFICATIONS


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma/GED; AND (1) years of experience working with at risk youth OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Must be a minimum of twenty-one (21) years of age at date of employment.
  • First Aid and CPR certification, within two months of date of hire
  • Valid Driver's License required
