JOB TITLE: Ninja Parkour and Rock Climbing Instructor

HOURS OF WORK: 24 variable hours / flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays is required

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:

 

Reporting to the Ninja Parkour and Rock Climbing Floor Supervisor/Recreation Programmer, Ninja Parkour and Rock Climbing Instructors will prepare the facility for recreational activities and monitor the actions of participants during recreational programs. This person will be responsible for following all policies and procedures of the facility while assisting participants during recreational program hours.

 

  • To supervise ninja and parkour course and climbing wall sessions for individuals or groups, including courses, public sessions, birthday parties, schools or private bookings.
  • To ensure that all safety procedures and opening and closing check lists are completed, before and after programs.
  • To ensure that all equipment and course elements are in safe working order before and after each shift.
  • To ensure that any damaged equipment, course elements or building fabric is reported as soon as possible.
  • Assist climbers in properly putting on their harnesses and helmets
  • Provide clear safety instruction to participants
  • Monitor the actions of rock climbers during recreational climbing hours.
  • Monitor the action of participants for ninja parkour course during recreational program hours
  • Organize and deliver high quality safe and stimulating activities for all levels of participants
  • Keep current with industry trends and new class formats
  • Provide a high level of front line customer service including greeting and engaging participants
  • Communicate with parents/guardians regarding participant’s daily activities and overall well-being
  • Maintain complete vigilance while on duty and be ready to respond to any emergency situation
  • Complete administrative duties in a timely manner (i.e. attendance, incident/accident reports)
  • Maintain a safe and tidy program space ensuring equipment is set-up and stored appropriately
  • Report all concerns, accidents and incidents to immediate supervisor for follow up and take appropriate action
  • Maintain an understanding of department programs and services
  • Understand, adhere to, and enforce Corporate Policies & Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures and Health and Safety Standards for all participants and staff
  • Attend meetings/trainings as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 1 – 2 years instructional experience preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge/experience in indoor climbing
  • Demonstrated knowledge / experience in Ninja or Parkour Courses

OTHER SKILLS AND ASSETS:

  • Minimum of 16 years of age
  • Current Standard First Aid / CPR C from an accredited organization, or ability to obtain within 1 month of date of hire
  • High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development or Sport Certification, considered an asset
  • Ability to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.)
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills

**Preference will be given to students that have a permanent residency in Brampton.
