Texas Trophy Hunters Association (TTHA) is the “Voice of Texas Hunting” and strives to unite all segments of the hunting community to promote, protect, and preserve Texas’ wildlife resources and hunting heritage for our future generations. Head-quartered in San Antonio, Texas, TTHA focuses on providing the hunting and outdoor community with resources and education for not only deer hunting, but for all Texas hunting. As a member-based organization, TTHA offers a bi-monthly publication, The Journal of the Texas Trophy Hunters and our annual consumer shows, the Hunters Extravaganzas. Travel is required to trade shows and any events to increase membership growth. TTHA is a division of Safari Club International.
All applicants should demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to, hunting as an essential part of biologically sound and ethically responsible international wildlife management. The ideal candidate will have some existing knowledge of TTHA’s current programs and mission and be passionate about hunter’s rights.
Summary
The Membership Manager is responsible for the implementation of company strategies to attain annual membership goals and for the coordination and cultivation of new members. It manages the membership budget, oversees financial reporting, and ensures accurate member records. The position also coordinates membership events, collaborates with marketing on advertising, and provides direct customer service to members. Additionally, it is responsible for growing and supporting regional chapters, maintaining compliance with chapter guidelines, and overseeing chapter development, including revenue generation and IP licensing. The role also involves working with vendors and supervising volunteers to ensure smooth membership operations.
Responsibilities
- Prepares short and long-term plans and timelines for strategies related to building membership. Plans recruitment, retention and renewal strategies for new/renewing members and college and high school chapters, including direct mail, digital, social media and telemarketing. Analyze member patterns and tests approaches to determine what methods are most effective.
- Coordinates, plans and implements benefit strategies, cultivation activities and robust retention, upgrade and acquisition programs and promotions in conjunction with Marketing. Responsible for planning and coordinating Membership Advertising across all mediums.
- Develops annual membership operating budget for approval and monitors income and expenses on a monthly basis.
- Approves weekly fulfillment projections and reports
- Provides direct customer service to members and prospects by responding to telephone, website and e-mail inquiries regarding the organization and its services.
- Drafts, secures necessary approvals for and prepares all correspondence, announcements and other materials for membership acquisition, retention and acknowledgement.
- Plans and attends all membership events and coordinates membership representation (volunteers and staff, as needed) at all events including planning and onsite management of membership sales at Extravaganzas and other TTHA events.
- Works closely with Events Staff to design and implement booths for all shows. Employs and manages booth for all shows including operations, inventory, and sales staff
- Ensures the accuracy of member records for recognition strategies and publication listings. Management and processing of the membership list for use in affiliation with third party list rental management group.
- Maintains strict confidentiality regarding proprietary and sensitive information.
- Trains and supervises volunteers who assist with department tasks.
- Responsible for ongoing documentation of development department processes and database procedures. Reviews them regularly to look for opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Works with outside vendors to facilitate production and manage inventory for print pieces, premiums, decals, and other items as needed.
- Responsible for chapter chartering and growth of each TTHA chapter.
- Responsible for creating a model to generate revenue for TTHA with regional chapters in the state of Texas. Starting no less than 2 new chapters each fiscal year.
- Responsible for working with all chapters regarding IP licensing.
- Serves as the primary liaison between headquarters and chapters, keeps chapters informed about important issues and educates the chapter network on TTHA’s mission and needs. Sends updates containing TTHA related business, project information or other chapter management topics, monitors Chapter compliance per the TTHA and by-laws, and collects an annual report from each Chapter.
- Monitors and actively seeks other chapter-based organizations ideas for positive chapter involvement, recruitment, and retention. Responsible for mentoring new chapters. Coordinates expectations and provides information to all new chapters.
- Performs other duties as assigned. Attends meetings, conventions, trade shows, and other events as appropriate. Travel is required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing or other related field and 3 years of experience in sales, membership or a related field.
- Preferred: knowledge of, and experience in, the outdoor industry.
- Preferred: experience in membership organizations
- Valid driver’s license with ability to be insurable on TTHA policy.
- Must be proficient with spreadsheet, word processing, database, and graphic presentation software programs and have the ability to become proficient with proprietary software needed for the performance of the essential functions of the position.
- Must demonstrate excellent communication skills, attention to detail, organizational skills and exceptional customer service.
- Ability to develop and deliver presentations.
- Visibility requires maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company image to the public.
