Duties
As the Marketing Manager, your efforts will be at the epicenter of driving future planning to keep BlackStrap at the forefront of our Outdoor-centric community. This is a comprehensive role that will help oversee all aspects of our marketing operations including but not limited to Go-To-Market Planning, Project, & Creative Brief Management, Social Media Strategy & Deployment, Partnerships, & Events, and our Ambassador Strategy. The Marketing Manager lives and breathes outdoor culture and exemplifies the brand lifestyle with an understanding of how to connect with multiple consumers across BlackStrap’s demographics through all paid, owned, and earned channels. The Marketing Manager’s duties include preparing marketing strategies & plans, oversight of all marketing projects, creating marketing content like blog posts, social posts, & consumer communications, event, & sponsorship coordination, and maintaining and managing relationships with external partners. Ultimately, the Marketing Manager is accountable for how and what branded marketing materials enter the market across various channels to establish a consistent representation that drives consumer engagement and sales. Your duties will include:
  • Serve as the brand champion ensuring authentic brand positioning at all touchpoints.
  • Owns refinement of GTM marketing calendar and deliverables to streamline/simplify; adapt to change, anticipate impacts, and build change management strategies.
  • Prepares creative briefs for all campaigns outlined in the GTM calendar.
  • Owns all aspects of project management, ensuring milestone meeting readiness, holding team members accountable for delivering on submitted briefs, and driving marketing efforts to meet milestone and seasonal deadlines.
  • Ensures the proper use of logos and brand guidelines across all external partnerships; including retail, events, and sponsorships.
  • Proven knowledge of social media platforms and ability to articulate and own the brand image/voice across Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter.
  • Contributing to the development, coordination, and execution of marketing campaigns.
  • Maintain and manage external partner relationships. Develop and execute Internal & outbound marketing communications.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Marketing Manager & Brand Director to support the development of new campaigns, strategies, and go-to-market plans while considering industry trends, and consumer behaviors, to increase sales and achieve long-term growth.
  • Prepares marketing reports & audits by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing marketing data.
  • Submit & manage internal & external marketing orders.
  • Ensure all brand guidelines including words, images, graphics, logos, colors, fonts etc. are adhered to across the organization and with external partners.
  • Coordinate with the Brand Creative Manager and respective design team to develop materials needed to support seasonal strategies and campaigns within the market.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with the Art Department to achieve seasonal and long-term product goals.
  • Production coordinator on all major photoshoots. This includes defining the schedule, defining the budget, model communications, photographer communications, and ensuring products are merchandised properly. Also, collaborating with the Brand Creative Manager and Content Coordinator to define a prioritized shot list that speaks to authenticity and fulfills our marketing needs.
  • Coordinate with the Senior Marketing Manager to define the scope of all tasks and due dates that need to be assigned to key team members, to ensure all projects are completed in a timely matter and are on brand standards.
  • Coordinate with the Senior Marketing Manager to ensure all asset libraries are maintained and organized by the marketing team.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal teams as well as external parties, fostering key account partnerships from conception through completion.
  • Determines if proposed sponsorships/events/donations fit within core values and idealistic ROI results.
Skills
To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate clearly with various departments including graphic design, public relations, and advertising, as well as vendors, contractors, and freelancers.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for representing BlackStrap in public, during events, product demonstrations, and while participating in trade shows.
  • Project management experience and time-management skills for juggling numerous time-sensitive projects simultaneously. Being familiar with project management software is also an asset.
  • Proficient with all Adobe products (Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, etc.)
  • Good computer skills for generating reports, viewing marketing metrics, extracting data, and sharing this information with other team members in project updates. Working knowledge of basic computer applications, programs, and features is a must.
  • Highly creative with the ability to think outside the box, listen to others' feedback, and/or develop other ideas, and possess creative flair, versatility, conceptual/visual ability, and originality.
  • Good at client conflict resolution.
  • Highly resourceful team player, with the ability to also be extremely and effectively independently accountable.
  • Strong decision-making capability, analytical skills, and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.
  • Advanced skill level with Microsoft Suite and/or Google Workspace Suite.
  • Possess extreme detail orientation, flexibility, and the ability to contribute to multiple fast-paced projects to meet development schedules and exceed expectations for quality.
  • Professional approach to time and deadlines with the ability to work within a time-pressure and reactive environment.
  • Strong understanding of digital/social media environment.
  • Creative with a strong work ethic and the capacity to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Present brand materials to internal and external audiences professionally.
  • Flexible, can-do attitude, high-quality work.
  • Self-starter and goal-oriented.
