POSITION SUMMARY
As the Internal Communications Manager for Alterra, you will bring your passion for the employee experience to our team, creating and executing strategies focused on amplifying our company values and cultivating a culture of trust, transparency, and engagement.
With your exceptional collaboration skills, you will partner with teams across the enterprise to bring employee stories to life, helping foster a strong sense of belonging and ensuring diverse voices are heard and valued.
As a talented writer, you will develop and deliver compelling content to help create an environment where employees feel informed, inspired, and recognized for their contributions.
Using your tech-savvy and strong organizational skills, you will manage our internal communications platforms and systems, working with our IT teams to ensure our channels are optimized to meet the needs of all employees.
This role will provide incredible variety and enable you to work strategically and execute with partners across the organization. This position will report to the Chief of Staff and work closely with the Corp Comm and People teams.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Work with the leadership team to establish and implement a company-wide internal communications strategy that ensures that the Alterra vision, mission, and values are infused throughout the employee lifecycle
- Create and manage the internal editorial calendar
- Manage a portfolio of internal communications channels to deliver information across the company, including the employee intranet, social media, newsletters, email, and SMS.
- Partner with the Corporate Communication and People teams, along with business and functional leadership, to create and deliver a consistent on-brand narrative and messages
- Identify, nurture, and develop brand advocates and internal culture champions
- Surface and share stories about employees doing great work and identify candidates for recognition
- Write and edit internal communications, including President & CEO emails, newsletters, presentations, announcements, and intranet content
- Edit, proofread, and deploy executive leadership messages
- Compile monthly leadership talking points on key topics and initiatives
- Collaborate with the Corporate Communications team to provide support, templates, translations, and best practices to all groups sending internal mass communications
- Monitor all communication channels to continuously improve their quality, consistency, and efficacy while ensuring all communications align with our company brand/mission/vision/values
- Storyboard or translate ideas for the creative team of art directors and designers
- Identify, develop, and implement new methods for communicating with employees at all levels
- Measure communication effectiveness, gather feedback, report findings, develop and manage action plans
- Manage employee event logistics, including monthly team briefings, all-hands calls, etc.
- Provide event support and content management for employee offsites, employee focus groups, town halls, and leadership events
- Work with the People team on the engagement survey program, driving participation, analyzing data and trends, and developing and sharing the story it tells
- Provide support to teams running organizational initiatives and projects such as annual planning, surveys, and performance reviews, ensuring they are successfully communicated and drive high participation and adoption
- Ensure internal communication messages are consistent with external communication messages
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- 3+ years experience in corporate mass communications, ideally as part of an internal communications team at a large organization
- Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Strong creative writing skills
- Experience managing corporate communication platforms and tools
- Strong visual design skills and expertise with PowerPoint and Keynote. Photoshop, InDesign, or similar a plus
- Excellent program and project management skills
- Strong speaking and presentation skills
- Effective team player with proven ability to work with senior executives
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across cross-functional groups
- Fluency in English
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to take programs from concept to execution
- Possesses strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and effortlessly moving between strategic and tactical activities
- Ability to travel
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Experience managing an Intranet
- Experience in using video production/editing, print, photography, and digital media in a creative way
- Ability to analyze data and translate it into actionable insights
- Ability to use data to tell stories that prompt action
- Familiarity with email campaign management tools
- Marketing skills and experience
- Knowledge of communication best practices in the areas of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging
- Passion for skiing/snowboarding and or outdoor recreation a plus
The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Alterra Mtn Co Shared Services Inc. salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Alterra Mtn Co Shared Services Inc.’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.
Denver area base salary range: $85,000 - $128,000 per year
