The Insights Researcher executes end-to-end quantitative and qualitative research to answer key audience and customer-focused questions for teams across Patagonia, including Product, Marketing, Digital, and Sales. You will be a significant contributor to the Research pillar of the Insights & Analytics team by delivering foundational knowledge, tactical decision-support, and outcome evaluation in partnership with senior leadership. You will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to design and execute research in response to specific requests, in addition to proactively seeking out and identifying opportunities for leveraging research. You will have the opportunity to apply your training and expertise in research methods towards increasing climate activism, conscious consumption, and connection to nature among customers and target audiences, in pursuit of Patagonia’s mission of saving the home planet.
What You’ll Do
- Define key research questions, assist in prioritizing research requests and setting a research calendar in partnership with teams across Patagonia including Marketing, Product, Digital, and Sales
- Execute end-to-end quantitative and qualitative research including research design, data collection, data analysis, and reporting
- Deliver research to provide foundational knowledge, tactical decision-support, and outcome evaluation
- Assist in managing internal and vendor resources to achieve Patagonia’s research goals
- Utilize existing Insights & Analytics Team findings to systematize recommendations that will further drive action and loyalty in Patagonia’s audiences
- Proactively identify opportunities for leveraging research and customer data, in collaboration with Insights & Analytics Team
- Clearly communicate research findings, converting complex data into understandable recommendations, visualizations, and written reports

Experience You Bring
- 3+ years’ experience in a quantitative research, market research, audience research, or user experience research role; Less with advanced graduate degree
- Experience in qualitative research a plus but not required
- Experience using research to drive decision-making, preferably at the senior leadership level
- Experience managing an end-to-end research project (e.g. project timeline, milestones, stakeholder communication)
- Strong understanding of the strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them
- Training in statistics; Proficiency in R, SPSS, or other statistical analysis software
- Nice to have: familiarity with SQL and experience pulling customer data using SQL
- Ability to turn a research question into a research plan, selecting the most appropriate method
- Ability to remain independent and effectively present complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience
Pay range: $91,872 to $153,120
Hiring range: $100,000 - $120,000
At Patagonia, pay ranges are assigned to a job based on the location specific market median of similar jobs according to 3rd party salary benchmark surveys. Individual pay within that range can vary for several reasons including skills/capabilities, experience, and available budget.
