End Date: One (1) year from start date (with possible extension or permanent)
Salary: 80% of Level 8 Step 1 ($2,933.40 bi-weekly)

Under the supervision of the Director of Heritage, the incumbent will have the opportunity to gain knowledge of the development and delivery of Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in programs and services as they pertain to the Heritage Officer role. The position will assist the department with documenting and protecting the land-based heritage resources of the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in and numerous departmental heritage programs.
This position is responsible for documenting and protecting the land-based heritage resources of the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in. The Heritage Officer Trainee provides technical expertise, conducts research, participates in various intergovernmental/party processes, analyzes complex issues, and provides recommendations to assist with decision-making as it relates to Heritage and to promote First Nations approaches to Heritage Resource Management.
An Eligibility List may be established from this competition – the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time, permanent part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time, term, or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.
