The Deschutes Brewery Tasting Room team is currently recruiting for part-time Beertenders/Tour Guides! This position is responsible for first impressions of Deschutes Brewery, and providing extraordinary experiences by celebrating the culture of craft beer and Deschutes Brewery through tours, retail sales and greeting groups. While our Tours are currently on hold due to COVID-19, when we are able to give tours again Beertenders/Tour Guides at Deschutes Brewery are responsible for showing groups of people the amazing process of craft brewing and beer.
We are currently hiring for multiple openings in our Tasting Room. Individuals hired may be assigned to a specific focus area, however may perform all duties as listed below.
What You'll be Doing:
- Welcoming guests to Deschutes Brewery
- Support an inclusive and equitable workplace and follow all Deschutes Brewery practices, policies, and procedures to ensure a respectful and welcoming work environment for all
- Executing opening and closing duties of the Tasting Room, which may include cleaning draft towers, setting up stools and tables, restocking merchandise, or opening cash drawers
- Serving draft beer and sample trays to guests in Tasting Room
- Leading groups of people on tours of the facility, private tastings, and classes
- Complies with Deschutes Brewery safety practices, policies, and procedures and actively promotes safe work practices.
- Enforcing any additional state mandated health and safety guidelines or regulations
- Describing, selling, and stocking packaged beer and merchandise
- Answering phones, responding to any questions related to the brewery, and forwarding calls as needed
- Receiving and sorting incoming and outgoing mail
- Tap cleaning
- Maintaining utmost cleanliness of all Tasting Room customer-facing areas
- Curbside Pick-up, order management and delivery to waiting vehicles
- Direct to Consumer keg sales and proper documentation of Oregon Liquor Control Commission issued paperwork
- Excellent customer service skills and positive attitude
- Must be able to speak in front of groups of up to 20 people and comfortable communicating in a group setting with diverse groups/folks from a variety of backgrounds
- Ability to remain calm and enthusiastic in a high stress/busy environment
- Valid OLCC Servers Permit
- Passion for craft beer, and enthusiasm to learn more
- Must have consistent weekend availability
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in the service industry or other customer-facing role
- Previous experience in an administrative or 'front desk' role
- Previous experience in managing Social Media preferred
- Experience in helping merchandise a retail business a plus
- Bilingual (Spanish/ASL) preferred
