French Occasional Teachers


We are excited to offer a one time grant of $1000 to support 2 candidates through the FSLM program at Queen's University We are currently accepting applications from individuals who have a proficiency in French and are interested in becoming a qualified teacher for this grant.




Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board (HPEDSB) serves approximately 15,400 students each day at 39 in-person schools (32 elementary, two K-12; four 7-12, one secondary). REQUIREMENTS:



  • Must be proficient in the French language, and accepted into the Queen's FSLM program before grant can be issued.

  • An offer of employment will be made for a spot on our Elementary Occasional teachers list contingent upon obtaining an Ontario College of Teachers certificate- must be able to commit to maintaining a spot on this list.

  • Candidates will be selected for this grant through a formal interview process. Please briefly describe your proficiency in the French language in your cover letter and attach one of the following;

    • A French Bilingual/Immersion/Extended Certificate and original transcript from an anglophone secondary school or an original transcript if you have graduated from a francophone secondary school, OR

    • Diplôme approfondi de langue française (DALF) You will need to achieve an overall classification of C1 (Advanced 1). Test results are valid for life, OR,



    • Diplôme d’études en langue française (DELF) You will need to achieve an overall classification of B1 (Intermediate 1). Test results are valid for life, OR,

    • Test de connaissance du français (TCF) You will need to obtain a score of C1 (Advanced 1 in all four modalities: reading, listening, writing and speaking). Test results are valid for two years, OR

    • Test d’évaluation de français (TEF) You will need to obtain a score of C1 (Advanced 1 in all four modalities: reading, listening, writing and speaking). Test results are valid for two years.
