Background
Protect Our Winters (POW) helps passionate outdoor people protect the places we live and experiences we love from climate change. Founded by pro snowboarder Jeremy Jones in 2007, POW works against climate change by turning passionate outdoor people into effective climate advocates. We are a community of athletes, scientists, creatives, and business leaders advancing non-partisan policies that protect our world today and for future generations. We work hard, and we enjoy taking our meetings to the chairlift or backcountry.
The Opportunity
The Executive Assistant is responsible for providing support to the organization’s Executive Director. Confidentiality, efficient time management, excellent organizational skills, and attention to accuracy and details are essential qualifications for this position, as is the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
Location: This position will be located out of our Boulder, CO headquarters. Our current policy is a hybrid approach for this position and currently requires working in the office occasionally with a flexible remote working schedule the other days. POW reserves the right to change its hybrid policy for in office and remote work requirements.
COVID-19 Vaccination Policy: The employee in this position is required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 as defined by the CDC, must certify that they have obtained the necessary vaccinations, and must maintain a copy of that certification to be provided to POW upon POW’s request. This is a mandatory policy except for documented medical and/or religious reasons for not receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.
In this position, you will:
● Manage scheduling, meeting agendas, notes / action items, travel, and some executive-level communications.
● Compile supporting materials (briefings, collateral material, schedules, and leave-behinds) for partnership and development meetings.
● Advise on scheduling priorities and help prioritize the Executive Director’s agenda.
● Assist with management of the Executive Director’s budget and expense reporting.
● Research background and story angles, source talking points, and ensure prior preparation for media, PR, and speaking opportunities.
● Proactively seek opportunities for PR and media for the Executive Director. Collaborate with the communications and programs teams to evaluate incoming requests to identify and evaluate PR opportunities for the Executive Director or appropriate POW representative.
● Lead on discrete and timely research projects for the Executive Director.

● Attend and support the Executive Director during in-person & virtual supporter, partner, and stakeholder meetings.
● Maintain Executive Director’s social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
● Maintain and proactively update Executive Director’s PR file including interviews, photos, b-roll video, and podcasts.
● Preview documents going to the Executive Director for review and ensure they meet organizational standards.
● Serve as the Executive Director’s liaison to key partners, donors, and VIP’s.
Skills, experience, and qualities that will help you be successful:
● Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 2+ years of experience in a similar role.
● Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive.
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all levels of internal and external professional organizations.
● Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously.
● Maintain strict confidentiality.
● A creative problem solver with attention to detail.
● Comfortable in a fast-paced environment.

Salary commensurate with experience, with a pay range of $50,000-$55,000. Protect Our Winters offers a generous benefits package including employer-paid (employee only) healthcare, vision, and dental benefits as well as a retirement match.
