To work as part of MEMS Reclamation & Construction team in the preparation and execution of site assessments and reclamation for upstream oil and gas sites in Western Canada. Assessing reclamation projects according to Alberta and BC regulations and criteria for abandoned well sites; and conducting Detailed Site Assessments, Phase II ESA’s, Phase III ESA’s, supervision of reclamation projects and technical report writing for clients. This position requires a combination of office and field work (30/70 split) in a demanding consultative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Planning, organizing and implementing field programs, evaluating collected information; preparing professional reports, and ensuring quality assurance and quality control.
- Completing file reviews and developing draft work plans and cost estimates based on project requirements and client needs.
- Field programs can include, but not limited to, pre-reclamation site inspections, monitoring and maintenance, detailed site assessments, and reclamation tractor and earthworks, Phase 1 ESA site visits, Phase 2 ESAs, remediation projects, and groundwater assessments.
- Coordinating, supervising and working with contractors and Project Managers to implement ESA, remediation, and reclamation projects.
- Accurate field cost tracking of time, expenses and contractors and timely reporting of change order needs
- Ensure all client safety requirements, reporting, and field execution expectations are met. File compilation, collection and organization of field data, interpretation of field and laboratory results and report writing.
- Preparation of reports including but not limited to pre-reclamation site inspections, detailed site assessments, reclamation certificate applications, Phase 1 and Phase 2 ESAs, remediation reports, and CoR part 1 and part 2 applications.
- Participating in technical and safety programs quality assurance and quality control.
- Communicate effectively with Project managers and internal personnel as required, including within multidisciplinary teams.
- Mentor staff on execution of field work (including remediation and reclamation projects, supervision of sub-contractors, data collection and field documentation, cost and expense tracking and daily field tickets, application of MEMS Safety Management System and Quality Management System on field work) and preparation of cost estimates and reports.
- Support the Reclamation and Construction Service Group and actively pursue opportunities to promote the development of the group; and
- other duties as assigned.
What You Bring:
- A reclamation specialist with a directly applicable Bachelor’s degree or Diploma with emphasis on reclamation or soil science.
- One to two years of directly related experience in the execution and management of site assessments and reclamation, focusing on the oil and gas industry would be an asset.
- Knowledge and experience with the 2010 Reclamation Criteria and Guidelines as well as the Tier 1 and Tier 2 Remediation Guidelines would also be advantageous.
- Knowledge of the reclamation certificate application process and a strong understanding of agricultural, forestry and oilfield practices would be valuable.
- Eligibility for membership in a relevant professional organization is required.
- Possess a valid, non-GDL Class 5 Drivers license; and
- the incumbent must be able to meet the requirements of site access as dictated by our clients, this may include pre-access drug testing and pre-access fitness testing.
Other Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong understanding of agriculture, forestry and oilfield industry; including associated practices and sciences.
- Knowledge of reclamation certificate application process.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work either independently or as a part of a team interacting with other team members and contractors.
- Experience driving, hauling a trailer and operating ATVs.
- Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and be able to work effectively in a multiâdisciplinary setting.
- Good organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
- willingness to travel; and
- excellent safety attitude.
