Reporting directly to the Vice-President of Sales, the Director of Specialty Sales is part of the BDEL sales management team that provides vision, leadership and strategy. Responsible to lead and motivate the sales rep team, implement marketing strategies and ensure sales targets are met. Develop, monitor, report and achieve business forecasts for the NA Sales Territories. Generating new leads and developing existing customer. Coordinate with the key account and national account sales managers and internal stakeholders to achieve corporate initiatives.

Requirements

Responsibilities:
  1. Develop, monitor and communicate short, mid and long-term sales strategies; assist with development of strategic tactics throughout organization to meet company’s strategic sales goals.
  2. Responsible for achieving top line revenue and profitability goals for the assigned account(s) and communicating essential information in a proactive manner that may impact forecasts and results.
  3. Develop, monitor, adjust and report sales forecasts to other areas of the organization as required to meet development, production and delivery goals in conjunction with the Supply Chain Management functionality.
  4. Assist with development and tracking of Sales Department budget.
  5. Oversee and attend corporate trade show activities and assist other sales efforts at shows.
  6. Coordinate with Sales reps and other Sales staff as necessary regarding account(s)’ special requirements. Participate as required in negotiations with account(s).
  7. Provide input to Marketing and Product Category Management relative to category and product direction and positioning, and marketing strategies, tactics and materials; assist both departments as necessary relative to public/published materials and statements.
Qualifications:

Education Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business or related field of study.

Work Experience

Required: 5 to 7 years of sales management experience within the consumer goods industry. Proven track record relative to territory development. 2-5 years leading sales team. Proven track record of analyzing data regarding sales performance, activity and company trends. Experience compiling month-end sales analysis / analytics reports and identifying trends and recommending improvements accordingly.

Preferred: 3 to 5 years of sales leadership within the outdoor business and experienced in leading a team. Proven track record relative to territory development.

  • In depth understanding of sales and marketing principles.
  • Experienced leading and managing a team.
  • Experienced user of sales CRM systems.
  • Proven ability to develop successful sales strategies and integrate them to a tactical level by territory – in partnership with key internal customers.
  • Driven by results and commercially thinking.
  • Strong analytical skill and ability to translate findings into proactive, results driven initiatives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong sales and presentation skill set and advanced computer skills including Word, Excel, Power Point.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Leading a team of sales representatives and coaching them in their respective field/territory.
  • Liaising with upper management ensuring sales targets are met.
  • Analyzing current marketplace and feeding back important market and competitive information.
  • Training sales team on sales techniques, administration and product.
  • Planning, executing, and managing sales strategies.
  • Generating new leads and developing existing customers.
  • Responding to customer enquiries.
  • Work with marketing team to deliver improvements in brand engagement scores across different territories.
