Freycinet Lodge is an eco-lodge that sits within the world famous Freycinet National Park – a stone’s throw from the renowned Wineglass Bay on the picturesque East Coast of Tasmania. The Lodge consists of 70 rooms and a main lodge, thoughtfully constructed around a beautiful waterfront below The Hazards mountain range. Located approximately 2.5 hours from Hobart or Launceston, Freycinet Lodge neighbours the popular holiday town of Coles Bay.

Job Description

  • With your experience, create an impact on our guests in this hands-on and detail orientated role
  • Ensure our guests have a great dining experience and make holiday memories

What you’ll do:

We are seeking an experienced, passionate and innovative Demi Chef to join our team at Freycinet Lodge in this casual position.                                                                                         

You'll use your experience and creativity to help build the identity of our venue from collaborative menu development, through to assisting in supervising and developing our cooks and kitchen attendants.

What you’ll bring:  

  • Strong hands-on experience in kitchen operations with a clear understanding of the logistics of restaurants and functions catering
  •  2 years+ of modern Australian cooking experience
  • A passion for your trade and for creating and presenting contemporary dishes using local produce
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Demonstrated computer literacy, particularly with common office applications
  • Formal qualifications in commercial cookery
  • The ability to work productively in a fast-paced, buzzing work environment, dealing with a high volume of covers in a short period of time
  • Possess a Do Food Safely Certificate of completion
