JOB SUMMARY
The Day Camp Counselor is responsible for the guidance of campers in age-appropriate educational programming, games, crafts, and other recreational activities. Program topics will focus on gardening, nature, art, plants, interactions between living organisms, environmental awareness, and more. This is a part-time, seasonal position.
This is a part-time, seasonal position working an average of 38 hours per week from June, 2025 - August, 2025.
Compensation: $16/hour
RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the Camp and Scout Program Educator:
Deliver creative and fun mission-based camp activities for ages 3-8 years old
Serve as a role model and maintain the health, safety, and welfare of children
Organize and maintain all camp equipment, supplies, and camp areas
Work cooperatively with other education staff and the Camp Assistant
Assist in documentation of all accidents, injuries, incidents, complaints, and problems
Demonstrate a focus on serving the campers and guests of the Conservatory, maintaining the highest standards of customer service.
Assist with before and/or after camp care.
Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
High School Diploma or G.E.D required; completion of at least 1 year towards an Associate or BachelorοΏ½s degree in Education, Natural Resources, Environmental or other Sciences, Fine Arts, or similar field preferred.
6 months of related work experience preferred, including informal education and/or customer service.
SKILLS REQUIRED AND RESULTS TYPICALLY ACHIEVED
Effective written & verbal communication skills with the ability to lead presentations and engage guests.
A professional demeanor and highly developed interpersonal skills.
Child First Aid/CPR is required before beginning of camp
Ability to work in a team setting.
Ability to maintain accurate records and meet timelines.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain on an exact schedule of events.
Ability to deliver educational content that follows written lessons and departmental goals.
Ability to move about for up to 5 miles/day, and move materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
Ability to pass a background check and fingerprinting.
Ability to provide reliable transportation.
