Black Diamond is driven to “Engineer and empower the future of mountain sports and be one with the communities we serve” and we are hoping to bring on a Creative Director to bring this vision to life creatively.
Leading a team of thinkers and doers the creative director will bring a mix of marketing expertise and business understanding to the position, promoting Black Diamond as the mountain brand of reference to our valued customers and consumers.
We’re looking for an experienced manager of people, someone that can inspire and educate others, taking our creative to a new level as we continue to grow.
The ideal candidate will have a natural eye for design and a drive to inspire dynamic ideas that resonates with the mountain communities we serve. The Creative Director also works with the Director of Design, Product teams and Sales departments on branding
Requirements
We will Rely on Your:
- Ability to develop creative strategies to solve business problems
- Ability to lead a team of creative talent
- Team leadership & delegation skills: directing the work of high-level creatives (art directors, designers, writers, photographers, illustrators, and other content providers)
- Years of experience creating marketing/advertising campaigns from developing vision and the message platform to overseeing production on time and budget
- Understanding and past experience creating integrated content across all marketing channels from digital, social media, paid media, mobile, but also understand offline and print
- Strong creative vision with an understanding of business objectives
- High level of activity in and/or understanding of the activities of climbing, freeride and backcountry skiing/snowboarding, trail running and hiking, and mountain sports in general
- Client presentation skills, including developing & presenting rationale for creative
- Public speaking and Black Diamond representation
- Planning, time management, organization skills
- Knowledge of and experience with Black Diamond products
- Attention to detail and strong artistic/design sensibility
- Professional working knowledge of relevant design programs for print, environments, products, graphics and the web (Including: Adobe Creative Suite, Flash, MS Office (PowerPoint), Macintosh OS X)
You will be authorized and responsible to continuously improve upon and perform all duties according to BD Inc’s Quality, Safety, and Employee Policies and procedures:
- Administer and conduct brand image in all media globally as directed by VP of Marketing.
- Supervise a cross-functional team of graphic designers, copywriters, social media experts, photographers/videographers, and project managers in the strategic development of messages and deliverables
- Conduct brainstorming sessions with the creative team, maintaining strategic and creative thinking to develop innovative and actionable creative initiatives in a fiscally responsible manner
- Produce fresh, innovative work that translates complex ideas into compelling print materials and digital experiences for visually sophisticated audiences
- Develop and maintain the Black Diamond brand book and style guide.
- Spearheads Website front-end design and is responsible for overall brand voice
- Informs & consults Product and Sales departments on brand guidelines and direction.
- Initiates all projects with thoughtful and clear creative briefs/project plans that encapsulate the relevant product marketing, brand, and sales directives
- Develops internal marketing campaigns in collaboration with the brand director that translate marketing objectives across business units into clear and motivating creative strategies
- In partnership with Director of Marketing and Content Manager, inspires creative team and marketing department to produce best-in-class marketing materials
- Spearhead and manage content strategy for both small-scale and large-scale projects, harnessing strategy, digital and brand design and compelling content.
- Leads and directs the design and execution of all digital and print brand materials in close collaboration with the Ecommerce and retail team (Website design, email mkt design, Retail collateral).
- Supervises & briefs on photo shoots and manages outside agencies in marketing creative production.
- Approves all marketing creative
- Analyze brand tracking, market trends, consumer need, and the competitive landscape
- Advise Marketing Operations Manager on the selection of vendors.
- Executes other projects as directed by the VP of Marketing
- Meet budget standards by forecasting and managing expenses
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in graphic design, communication
- Master’s Degree in marketing or business (preferred)
- Five (5)+ years as an Art or Creative Director in the Action Sports or Outdoor Industry
- Prior experience with copywriting, design, or production
- Prior project management experience, with a focus on creative direction
- Professional working knowledge of relevant design programs for print, environments, products, graphics and the web (Including: Adobe Creative Suite, Flash, MS Office (PowerPoint), Macintosh OS X)
