Basic Function
Consists of outside sales, gathering leads, and generating new business in all market segments. Responsible for seeking business that maximizes economic impact to the area via overnight lodging and meeting/event space. Responsible for driving sales, managing groups, and lead generation to stakeholders. Exercises creativity, independent judgment, and discretion in determining the scope of departmental programs and services.
Required Knowledge/Skills
Must possess a friendly, enthusiastic attitude with excellent interpersonal skills; knowledge of modern office practices and procedures; computers and related equipment, hardware, and software applicable to the area of assignment; experienced in working with CMS and CRM platforms, preferably Saffire; media and public relations development; tour and travel industry; visitor solicitation and service programs.
Must be able to organize, manage, prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage multiple complex projects and processes simultaneously; operate modern office equipment; follow oral and written instructions; effectively communicate both orally and in written form; be proficient in both group and individual presentations; speak clearly and distinctly; obtain sufficient and essential information; attention to detail and avoid mistakes. Must have the ability to be creative, well-organized, and detail-oriented. Must be willing to travel. Develop and maintain cooperative and collaborative interdepartmental relationships that advance the city's role in advancing and executing special events. Ability to create, read, analyze, and interpret reports, technical procedures, and/or governmental rules and regulations; to effectively present information and respond to questions with those contacted in the course of work.
Education and/or Experience
A Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, hospitality, or other related field. If no college degree, an equivalent combination of education and/or a minimum of 5 years of experience that generates the requisite level of knowledge, skill, and ability is acceptable. Municipal experience is highly preferred. Must possess a valid Texas driver's license.
