The Assistant Director of Partnerships develops & directs innovative community partnerships within Outdoor Pathways. The role involves providing strategic programming, supervision, and partnership engagement for program initiatives. The Assistant Director will provide guidance, leadership, and identify potential funding opportunities. Reports to the Executive Director of Outdoor Pathways and additional stakeholders involved in these initiatives to ensure the program's continued success. This position is offered for $65,000- 75,000/yr, depending on experience. Current Program initiatives: Utah State Parks- ParksPass, National Parks- ParkData, Thunderworks Home Association, DarkSkies, and USDA Forest Research.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Will communicate and collaborate with SUU's Outdoor Pathways Department, leadership, external partner organizations, and other Institutions of higher education, government, and industry to keep projects aligned with goals.
  2. Acts as team leader and point of contact, delegates tasks as required, makes effective decisions, performs quality control for projects, and provides administrative guidance to staff.
  3. Develops related budgets, provides fiscal management, generates reports and proposals, and maintains records and
  4. Creates long-term and short-term plans, milestones, and deadlines, adjusting timelines as needs or financing change.
  5. Plans, organizes and directs technology-based innovations targeted to provide solutions for the outdoor industries.
  6. Draft grant Proposals, Applications, and Agreements in collaboration with SUU's Outdoor Pathways Department.
  7. Represents the department in promoting, explaining, and coordinating programming designed to have positive impacts on the outdoor industry.
  8. Other Duties as Assigned

Education and Experience Requirements:

  1. A bachelor's degree or equivalent working experience in a field related to public administration or research coordination.
  2. Ability to communicate interpersonally and formally through writing and public speaking.
  3. Experience working with University and State Agency Research Teams.
  4. Project Management: Experience in managing complex research or implementation projects, ideally in interdisciplinary settings.
  5. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  6. Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and to collaborate with professionals from other fields, such as environmental science, biology, or park management.
