We are looking for:
Part-Time (Seasonal) Counselors – 7:30-9:30a; 8:30a-4:00p;  (hours and days vary by camp)
Pay rate: The starting target pay rate is $16 per hour, with potential increases up to $20.50 based on experience and/or longevity with the Park District.
  • Develop and implement weekly schedules for camp groups.
  • Supervise campers, ensuring adherence to program rules, safety, and regulations.
  • Collaborate with counselors to plan and deliver engaging group activities.
  • Lead age-appropriate activities such as crafts, games, nature exploration, and swimming, including managing transitions like bus rides and walks.
  • Address and manage camper behavior issues effectively.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and litter-free camp environment.
  • Communicate with parents about camper experiences and report concerns to leadership.
  • Actively participate in camp activities as a positive role model.
  • Art Camp counselors: Preferred to have experience in ceramics, drawing, painting, and/or design.
Requirements
  • Incumbents must be at least 16 years old, except for extended care positions, where individuals as young as 15 are eligible. Ability to create a positive and supportive environment for children.
  • Ability to connect effectively with preschool and elementary school-aged children while being attentive and responsive to their individual needs.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and a genuine commitment to working with children ranging from age three to 8th grade.
  • Ability to conduct oneself professionally and serve as a role model to the children.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and be on your feet for long periods of time.
  • Must pass a background check
Camps operate from June 16 to August 1, with training scheduled during the week of June 9. Staff are expected to commit to working for the entire summer season
 

Wage Range: $16 - $20.50, starting pay at the base of range.
