Job Description
- Lead field efforts according to state and Federal historic preservation guidelines including reconnaissance surveys, terrestrial surveys augmented by shovel testing, site documentation and recordation, and monitoring.
- Perform overland navigation using compass and tape, in addition to orienteering through interpretation of USGS topographic maps and aerial photographic imagery.
- Complete and submit requisite field paperwork: daily journals, vehicle mileage forms, transect shovel test forms, site shovel test forms, and state-level site and feature forms; field site sketch maps and feature profiles, perform photo documentation and complete photo logs, etc.
- Assist with preparation and duplication of detailed field paperwork. These include but are not limited to daily journals, vehicle mileage forms, daily safety meeting forms, accident/incident forms, site and feature forms, transect shovel test forms, site shovel test forms, field sketch maps, photo logs, etc
- Collect all field data daily and conducts QA/QC of all field forms submitted by crew members.
- Possess familiarity with state-level requirements for field surveys and/or monitoring. Regional experience specific to Louisiana and Texas with an understanding of CTA and LDA requirements preferred.
- Ability to effectively and respectfully communicate with supervisors, project-related field personnel, clients, landowners, and crew members as appropriate.
- Ability to accurately record field data without assistance from other employees.
- Must be detail oriented, highly organized, and utilize effective time management.
- Demonstrate competence with Excel or similar software to organize data, equipment, field personnel, etc.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in Anthropology, Archeology, or closely related field.
- Masterβs degree preferred.
- 5+ years documented experience in CRM or archeological field experience.
- Minimum of 2 years documented field supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience in pipeline, utility transmission, petrochemical exploration projects (highly preferred).
- CPR certification required.
- First Aid and First Aid for Wilderness Professionals certification preferred.
- Possess a valid driverβs license and have access to reliable transportation.
