YMCA Camp Chingachgook is part of the Capital District YMCA and offers a variety of positions during the summer. We are a community of dynamic outdoor leaders who foster youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Adventure Team at YMCA Camp Chingachgook is composed of backcountry leaders and operational logistics staff, based in spectacular Lake George in the Adirondack Park, NY. Using outdoor facilitation techniques, Adventure staff members inspire wonder and personal development in campers through exciting opportunities to backpack, rock climb, kayak, canoe, sail, whitewater raft, and SCUBA dive! Our summer season starts in early to mid-June and ends in late August, and there are opportunities to extend the season as an outdoor educator which would run May-June and again August-October.
Adventure & Wilderness Coordinator: $90.00 PER DAY
Adventure & Wilderness Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the onsite support of all Adventure trips and all overnight camp wilderness programs overseen by the Summer Camp Director. Successful applicants must have the following previous experience in outdoor program logistics; leading youth in the outdoors, supervising staff, and basic operation of Microsoft Office. This position requires the ability to work independently and prioritize multiple duties. Strong human relations, communication, and logistical skills are essential. Must be at least 21 years old.
Adventure & Wilderness Logistics Specialist: $69.23 PER DAY
The Logistics Specialist is responsible for assisting the Adventure & Wilderness Coordinator in facilitating and providing support to all aspects of adventure trips and overnight camp wilderness programs. Successful applicants must have the following previous experience in outdoor program logistics; leading youth in the outdoors, supervising staff, and basic operation of Microsoft Office. Must be comfortable responding to emergency situations. This position requires the ability to work independently and prioritize multiple duties. Strong human relations, communication, and logistical skills are essential.
Adventure Trip Leader and Adventure Guide: $67.00 PER DAY for Leader & $60 PER DAY for Guide
Adventure Trip Leaders are committed to developing responsible wilderness leadership, facilitating interpersonal connections, and encouraging the personal growth of each participant. This position requires the ability to work independently, manage the safety of a group, and prioritize multiple duties. Strong human relations, communication, and logistical skills are essential. This position leads teens on backpacking, kayaking, and canoeing trips that range from 1 to 5 weeks in the wilderness.
