YMCA of Sumter Job Opportunity Summer Camp Counselor The YMCA of Sumter is seeking a professional, dependable individual interested in becoming a part of our team.

Qualifications:

Responsibilities Include:

• Supervise and monitor the safety of children and group activities.
• Provide leadership through positive reinforcement and/or redirection.
• Creates a positive rapport and shared interest with all youth; models relationship-
• building skills in all interactions.
• Ensure a clean and safe environment is provided for all program participants.
• Plan and lead developmentally appropriate activities and games.
• Provides opportunities for youth to lead, problem-solve, and make decisions and

choices within the program and provides daily opportunities for youth to reflect on and respond to their experiences.

• Attends and participates in program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
• Other duties as deemed necessary by the Camp Mac Boykin Director.

Minimum Requirements:

• 16 years old or older.
• Able to work a majority of the summer, May 23 through August 18.
• Integrity and ability to work independently with attention to detail required.
• Demonstrated leadership and dependability.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic groups

of the community.

• Background checks will be performed.
• CPR and First Aid preferred.
• Prior experience working with children preferred.

Salary Range: Starting at $10.00 Schedule: Monday - Friday
