Job Description:
AMERI-CANS is looking to hire a full-time Maintenance Technician at their Fort Wayne, IN location. This is a critical role supporting the day-to-day execution of a rapidly growing portable sanitation company that takes pride in doing things the right way and executing the impossible.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Perform routine and emergency repairs on restroom trailers, sea-can units, and related equipment
- Install, service, and troubleshoot plumbing systems, freshwater/waste pumps, valves, and hoses
- Conduct preventative maintenance on HVAC units, water heaters, and electrical systems in trailers
- Fabricate or repair using welding, carpentry, and minor engine repair as needed
- Deploy on field calls for urgent repairs to keep units operational
- Support site setup with tool cage, shelving, washer/dryer installs, and spare parts staging
- Maintain and organize tools, shop equipment, and service parts inventory
- Operate equipment, including skid steer, forklift, telehandler, and non-CDL trucks (standard shift)
- Mentor and partner with an Assistant Maintenance Technician to ensure redundancy and team coverage
- Maintain accurate repair logs and communicate with the operations team to schedule downtime and repairs
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Mechanical aptitude across plumbing, electrical (AC/DC), HVAC, and carpentry
- Welding and fabrication experience preferred
- Small engine repair/general mechanic skills required
- Equipment operation experience, including skid steer, forklift, and non-CDL trucks
- Familiarity with water pumps, hoses, and cam-lock fitting
- Preventive automotive maintenance and diagnostics skills
- Willingness to work in a remote environment and adapt to evolving site requirements
- Must pass background check; U.S. citizenship required for some client sites
Abilities:
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time, bend, twist, reach, stoop, and crouch
- Perform essential duties with minimal or no supervision
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs and drag 185 lbs
