Living Accommodations
Kane Gulch is a remote ranger station with four tiny homes and a shared bunkhouse, about 30 minutes outside of Blanding, UT and 15 minutes from Natural Bridges National Monument. The intern will most likely stay in the bunkhouse, which has three bedrooms and a shared kitchen and bathroom. The Ranger Station
is off grid, meaning water is from a well, electricity is solar with a backup generator, and heat is propane. Connectivity is primarily through StarLink (connected to cell phones and computers), with emergency beacon backup. 4G cell and radio service are both sporadic on the Mesa. While the Field Office makes
every effort to keep major systems functioning, this is a remote Station and the applicant should be prepared for some challenges. In the case of a major system break, the BLM will work with the applicant to mitigate impacts – i.e., offering alternate housing in a different location, or ensuring that government furnished
containers and vehicles are available to haul water on work time.
