Summer Camp at Stevens Cooperative is seeking Associate Teachers to support our programs for PreK 3 through middle school, based on skills and experience, at our Jersey City and Hoboken campuses for the summer of 2026. This is a temporary position from June 15 - August 14, 2026. While teaching all weeks is preferred, it is not required.

The Candidate You have experience and knowledge in early childhood and/or elementary education and can identify and implement strategies that meet the unique needs of individual campers. You bring strong classroom management and organizational skills. You are a creative, flexible, and energetic educator who fosters a positive and engaging learning environment. As a collaborative team member, you communicate effectively with campers, colleagues, and families, and instill confidence in the program with parents. You are culturally competent, maintain a professional and positive attitude, and approach your work with initiative, adaptability, and a genuine enthusiasm for supporting an inclusive camp community.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support the Head Teacher in planning and implementing engaging enrichment lessons and activities
- Assist in fostering campers’ social, emotional, and academic growth through play, exploration, and learning
- Help maintain a safe, organized, and positive classroom environment
Supervise campers during activities, transitions, and off-site trips to ensure their safety and well-being
- Communicate openly and professionally with the Head Teacher, colleagues, and parents as needed
- Contribute to creating a welcoming, inclusive camp community aligned with camp values
- Demonstrate flexibility, collaboration, and a positive attitude in all aspects of camp life
- Participate in camp-wide events and assist with other duties as assigned by the Summer Camp Director

Prior teaching experience and experience working with children of various ages is preferred Ability to manage groups effectively and maintain a safe, engaging learning environment Skilled in creating spaces where campers feel comfortable asking questions, taking risks, and expressing their ideas Strong communication and interpersonal skills with campers, colleagues, and parents
Confident working with groups and contributing to a positive, collaborative team environment Strong problem-solving, safety, and crisis management awareness Creative, flexible, and enthusiastic educator with a sense of humor and a positive attitude Committed to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and fun camp environment that aligns with camp values
Ability to inspire curiosity and a love of learning through engaging, hands-on experiences Position Requirements Must attend Summer Staff Orientation on May 16, 2026 Monday - Friday, 8:15 a.m. - 4:15 p.m. Must attend weekly staff meetings Must attend weekly field trips Salary & Benefits
Compensation is $18.00 per hour.:
