Description:
Purpose: The Summer Camp Gym Counselor is responsible for leading gym activities for children ages 6-13. The counselor will be responsible for planning and implementing activities that are both fun and developmentally appropriate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and lead gym activities that are age-appropriate for the entire nine-week sessions
An in-depth curriculum expectations will be covered during the interview
- Prepare and set up gym materials before each activity
- Lead, supervise and assist children during gym activities
- Ensure the safety and well-being of the children at all times
Encourage campers to try an activity during gym time Clean and maintain the gym closet Must possess exceptional collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with lead and support counselors
- Assists in maintaining accurate program records, including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance
Knows and understands all emergency procedures associated with the camp
- Participate in weekly staff meetings
Will provide support on designated Thursday field trip days.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age Must have a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalent certification Must have reliable transportation Must be able to work at least until early August 2026
Experience working with children, particularly in gym activities:
Strong knowledge and skills in leading and implementing gym activities Good organizational skills Strong communication and leadership skills Passion for working with children and encouraging creativity through active play Must be able to pass a background check
Physical Demands:
This job may require standing, sitting, walking, and running for extended periods of time This job may require lifting or moving gym materials
