What you will do:
This role assists in overseeing the Summer Camp and is responsible for monitoring and supporting the Summer Camp Counselors that manage the individual classrooms.
- Assist in supervising the Summer Camp classroom staff.
- Conduct reviews of the center to ensure that Arkansas Child Care Licensing and Early Intervention Day Treatment (EIDT) requirements are being followed.
- Manage classroom staffing to ensure adequate staff-to-child ratio in each classroom and determine lunch coverage.
- Assist the Director in management of staff.
- Monitor classroom attendance by submitting weekly attendance records, tracking patterns, contacting families, etc.
- Work with Director to ensure all classroom documentation is completed in an accurate and timely manner, including billing sheets, assessments, treatment plan, etc.
- Work with Director to ensure that an Individual Treatment Plan (ITP) is developed and updated.
- Work with Director to ensure that each child’s ITP is being worked on weekly and monitors each ITP for progress/ goal completion.
- Assist with orientation for classroom staff.
- Help to ensure that staff is fully trained to meet licensing standards and the needs of the summer program.
- Ensure the playground is safe and ready for students each day.
- Ensure that curriculum activities have been prepped and distributed as needed. Ensure that snack items have been distributed appropriately.
- Work with Director to ensure summer budget is followed.
- Oversee requisitions and supplies for summer camp.
- Assist with daily operations, building needs and/or issues as they arise.
Is available to parents as needed; involves Director with any concerns that cannot be immediately/easily resolved. Spends at least 25% of the time modeling classroom management skills for the classroom staff, helping in the classrooms, and supporting during transitions as needed. Education/ Certification:
High School Diploma or equivalent Two years of successful experience in a classroom setting working with developmentally at-risk children or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred.
Skills/ Abilities:
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide variety of people. Must be able to work with children birth to age 18 and families who are at risk. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to handle multiple tasks in a very busy environment. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, policies, and other company documents.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of families or employees of organization. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Reports for work dressed appropriately and complies with company policies regarding dress code.
Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance. Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner.
Essential Physical Requirement:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to accurately communicate information and ideas so others will understand through sight and hearing. The employee is regularly required to move including walking, running, jumping, and sitting. The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, lift, reach, and feel. The employee is frequently required to stand and stoop, twist, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
