Starting Salary Expectations: $51,623 – 51,713

Position Purpose This position provides leadership and oversight for Athletics facilities and game-day event operations. Responsibilities include facility scheduling, setup and preparation for events, student worker supervision, and coordination with Physical Plant and Campus Safety. The role ensures that athletic facilities are safe, well-prepared, and welcoming for student-athletes, coaches, and visitors, and that varsity events are executed with strong service, safety, and operational standards.
SUMMARY:
The Assistant Athletic Director, Facilities & Event Operations ensures effective facility operations and game-day execution for varsity athletic events. The position manages scheduling, staffing, safety procedures, and coordination with Physical Plant. This role supervises student employees working in facilities and events, supports summer camp logistics, and collaborates with campus partners to maintain safe and operational athletic spaces.

3–5 years of experience in athletic administration, event management, facility operations, or related field
Experience supervising staff or student workers:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Leadership and Collaboration
- Lead scheduling, access, and operational planning for Athletics facilities
Serve as a primary contact for Physical Plant, Campus Safety, and external groups using athletic spaces
- Participate in planning meetings for practices, home events, and summer camps
- Communicate operational needs with coaches, officials, and campus partners
- Recruit, train, schedule, and provide on-site supervision of student workers supporting facilities and game-day operations, ensuring adherence to safety and service standards
Data, Technology, and Compliance
- Maintain facility usage records and scheduling systems
- Track facility condition and coordinate maintenance requests
- Support safety protocols, risk management procedures, and emergency response readiness during events
- Maintain documentation related to facility readiness and operational standards
Stakeholder and Institutional Support
- Collaborate with Physical Plant, Campus Safety, Finance, Human Resources, and other departments to support facility access and operations
Serve as liaison with officials, visiting teams, contractors, and vendors for home events
- Support external groups or rental events approved for athletic spaces
Operations and Technical Oversight
- Identify and pursue revenue-generating opportunities through athletic facility rentals, external events, and facility sponsorships, ensuring alignment with college policies and supporting Athletics operational sustainability.
- Lead logistics for home varsity athletic events including setup, access, staffing, and teardown
- Ensure equipment, signage, scoreboards, and audio/visual elements are operational for events
- Manage event flow, crowd service, safety, and troubleshooting during games
- Coordinate work orders, repairs, and facility improvements with Physical Plant
Fiscal Oversight
- Provide input into facility and event operations budgets, staffing needs, and equipment planning
- Ensure event and facility operations are executed within established departmental resources
- Coordinate facility work orders, repairs, and capital improvement requests with Physical Plant
- Support planning for capital projects and facility upgrades
Strategic Planning and Sustainability
- Contributes to facility planning discussions and capital project needs
- Supports campus events and external rentals when approved

License, Certification, or Registration Necessary:
Valid driver’s license (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
- Maintain MC transportation driving requirements
Pass NCAA rules test annually; maintain First Aid/CPR certifications as required
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
(Required for ADA compliance.) Office, gymnasium, athletic fields, and outdoor environments Frequent walking between facilities and event locations Must occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds Regular communication via phone, radio, and in person Frequent evening and weekend work during athletic seasons
Ability to operate the following vehicles or equipment:
Campus vehicles (vans/carts) Scoreboards, audio/visual equipment, and event technology Standard office equipment (computer, printer, scanner)
