The Physical Security Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of personnel, facilities, field assets, and operational sites across the company’s footprint. The Physical Security Specialist executes daily security operations, conducts facility and field patrols and inspections, assists in access control and surveillance systems and participates in incident response and triage.
Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
Security Operations & Monitoring:
- Support daily physical security operations across LEG offices, field yards, drilling sites, and remote locations.
- Assist in monitoring CCTV, access control, and alarm systems to ensure continuous operational readiness.
- Conducts routine/periodic facility patrols, gate checks, lighting inspections, and perimeter assessments to include after hours and weekend activity.
- Assists in response to security incidents, suspicious activity, or operational disruptions and escalate to SOC and leadership as required.
- Conduct drone operations to support business continuity and security operations as required.
Facility & Field Security:
- Assists with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of access control, CCTV, NVRs, alarms, gates, fencing, and other physical security infrastructure.
- Assists in security planning for new projects, site expansions, and high-risk operational areas.
- Conducts field visits to assess physical security vulnerabilities at remote and high-value sites.
May be required to fill temporary security guard duties.
SOC & Emergency Response Support:
- Provide direct operational support to the SOC during incidents, severe weather, or regional disruptions.
Act as a security resource during after-hours or weekend SOC activations when needed.
Training & Awareness:
- Deliver security awareness briefings, visitor procedures, workplace violence prevention information, and field-focused security drills/exercises.
Promote a strong security culture across all LEG teams and locations.
Risk Assessment & Compliance:
- Conduct physical security risk assessments across facilities and field operations.
- Identify vulnerabilities and propose practical mitigation strategies aligned with LEG’s operational assets.
- Support compliance with internal security policies and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, can be substituted with military or law enforcement experience. 1 – 3 years of experience in physical security, law enforcement, military, energy sector security, or similar role. Working knowledge or willingness to learn access control, CCTV, and physical protection systems used across LEG facilities (Crestron, Brivo, WAVE, Restrata, Ubiquity).
Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with field teams, office staff, executives, and external partners. Ability to respond to and manage incidents in a calm and effective manner. Willingness to learn and work independently in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision.
Willingness to obtain certifications that enhance security operations such as FAA Part 107 (drone), WAVE, Brivo, Crestron etc. Valid driver’s license and passport, ability to travel to field locations, international assets and overnight stays as needed (up to 25%).
Experience with Microsoft Office applications and Windows-based systems/software.:
Complete discretion and confidentiality. Must live in the immediate San Antonio, TX or Encinal, TX area.
Preferred:
Energy sector or critical infrastructure experience or familiarity. Drone FAA Part 107 license or be able to obtain the license within six months of start date. Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
Working Conditions:
Work will involve after-hours, on-call, or emergency response availability. Ability to conduct indoor and outdoor response in varying field conditions, including heat/cold, rain, dust and uneven terrain. Must be comfortable driving to remote sites and interacting with field personnel during and after normal business hours.
