Recreation Instructor, Full Time
Schedule: Monday- Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
$23-$25/Hour, Based upon Experience
Easterseals MA is seeking Recreation Instructors to join our staff at the Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children (PRHC) in Canton, MA. Recreation Instructors will help develop and lead recreational activities/groups and ensure that they are skill and age appropriate.
Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children (PRHC) in Canton, MA provides medical, rehabilitative, educational, recreational, habilitative, transitional, and complementary alternative medical services to children and young adults ages 7 – 22+ with multiple disabilities. PRHC assists them to achieve their optimal level of independence in all aspects of life. ESMA collaborates with PRHC to provide staffing solutions for its programs and services.
General Essential Functions:
- Lead group activities, adapting aspects of activities to ensure successful participation by all participants
- Create, analyze, and implement art activities for each group based on appropriate age and skill level
- Complete accurate documentation forms on participants as required on a regular basis
- Monitor and document progress for participants and caregivers
- Follow all safety protocols, demonstrating and modeling safe work behavior while utilizing proper body mechanics.
- Encourage participant independence in all phases of his/her program
- Establish good rapport and build relationships with peers, participants, caregivers and other professionals
- Work collaboratively with recreational counselors to support participants with emotional, physical and/or behavioral concerns by communicating plans, delegating tasks, and consulting on any issues that may arise during programming.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (or in progress) or higher in education, therapy or recreation preferred
- Ability and desire to work with people of all ages and disabilities
- Knowledge of the needs of participants who have behavioral, learning, and/or physical disabilities and experience teaching or running groups/classes is preferred
- Experience teaching or running groups/classes preferred
