Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
As a professional in the HVAC-R industry you will use your career experience to educate students for entry-level employment as an HVAC/R technician, with the focus on installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems in accordance with industry safety standards. The Program combines theory with practical hands-on training designed to simulate the actual work environment and skills needed to excel in this field. Instruction will combine classroom and hands-on lab training. Instructors are responsible for sound educational practices and the academic development of each student. Instructors will manage the classroom and lab environment and promote a positive and engaging learning experience. The HVAC/R Instructor must possess highly developed interpersonal skills, good time management and organizational skills, have energy, creativity and show initiative.
Have a thorough understanding of the HVAC/R Industry Instruct students in HVAC/R service and repair with a customer service focus Lecture and laboratory instruction focusing on up-to-date Industry Equipment
- Perform a variety of instructional assistance, tutoring and related support functions if needed
- Document student grades and attendance, have a working knowledge of Canvas and Transcript
- Support student retention by reviewing individual completion of learning activities, monitoring attendance and contacting students as necessary
- Demonstrate systemic problem-solving strategies in the HVAC/R service setting
- Prepare students to pursue HVAC/R journeyman’s licensure
Be familiar with current accrediting bodies and program societies i.e. ABHES, ACCSC, CIB, and OSHA
- Demonstrate accurate use of trade-specific jargon
Instruct in process-specific specialized HVAC/R equipment and tools Instruct students in safe service practices
- Maintain tools, equipment, and other assets pursuant to maintenance, storage and security procedures
- Evaluate student mastery of skills and competencies required by course outcomes
- Maintain equipment and other assets pursuant to maintenance, storage, and security procedures
Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior Strong desire to see students succeed in the HVAC/R industry Work on administrative duties in a timely manner
- Demonstrate effective communication skills, both oral and written
- Monitor and assist with a variety of laboratory activities for students at various levels of proficiency
Model the College Mission, and CARES philosophy, incorporating professional and ethical standards Advocates for and supports the college through extracurricular activities and attending events and meetings, as required (e.g., Graduation Ceremonies, Fundraising events, Open houses, Faculty Forums, Team/Department Meetings, etc.)
Attend graduation ceremonies and participate in school-sponsored activities Complete a minimum of two professional developments and two in-services Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:
A minimum of three years of verified occupational experience in the field of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. A valid Oklahoma Journeyman’s License or Unlimited Contractor License is a compliance requirement. College degree preferred. Teaching experience is a plus.
