    Description:

Camp Korey is more than a camp. It’s a place where kids with life-altering medical conditions can just be kids, entirely free of charge. We believe that all children should be able to experience both the joys of childhood and the profound, life-changing impact of camp. Every year, thousands of campers and family members gather in a community of people with shared experiences to sing, dance, laugh, grow, and discover their potential in a medically safe and adaptable environment. Here, campers with 90+ diagnoses can take a true break from being “patients” and rediscover the joy of being a kid.

Our team of year-round and seasonal staff work together to make these joys and impacts a reality. We value the background, skills, and lived experiences of our team in bringing diverse representation to our organization. Every day, we make a difference in families’ lives. Are you ready to join as an Activity Lead? In this role, you’ll support and supervise the team of Activity Pals who run daily programming across camp. You will help ensure consistency, safety, communication, and engagement in all activity areas; step in to support staff and families when adaptations or additional assistance are needed; serve as a key link between the Activity Team, the Cabin Life team, and the Medical Team; and lead all-camp fun experiences, including MC responsibilities for mealtimes and special events.

In this position you will be onsite full-time at Camp Korey in Mt Vernon WA, June 18 through August 16, 2026. Pay for the camp season is $5000 plus room and board. This position will report to the Cabin Life Coordinator and will team up with the whole staff to make the magic of camp happen. Minimum Age of 21 is required.

What you'll be doing (with on-site training and a team):

Supervising, supporting, and coaching the team of Activity Pals. This includes daily check-ins, providing guidance, modeling best practices, equipping staff for challenges, and ensuring consistency in how activities are planned, adapted, and delivered across camp.

    • Overseeing the delivery and flow of daily programming by helping coordinate schedules, transitions, and communication between Activity Pals, Leadership, Family Pals, and the Medical Team.
    • Leading all-camp fun and MC responsibilities. Act as the primary emcee for stage nights, theme events, and other all-camp programming, ensuring energy, engagement, and inclusivity for all participants.

Ensuring activities are safe, accessible, and engaging by supporting staff with adaptations, stepping in to facilitate when needed, and helping problem-solve in real time to maintain a positive camper and family experience.

    • Monitoring the overall program environment—activity readiness, emotional climate, participant safety, staff dynamics, and camper wellbeing—and communicating concerns promptly and appropriately.

Partnering with volunteers to designate responsibilities, communicate expectations, and maintain a positive, well-run program environment.

    • Helping lead portions of staff training at the start of the season related to activity facilitation, adaptations, camper engagement, MC skills, communication, and safety procedures.
    • Maintaining documentation and communication as needed, including program updates, staff support conversations, inventory needs, and follow-up plans.

What you'll need to bring (necessary requirements):

Commit to the entire length of the contract term: JUNE 18–AUGUST 16, 2025 Prior experience supervising or mentoring peers or youth-serving staff

Experience facilitating activities or leading youth, recreation, or camp programming:

Joy in being silly! You’ll join cheers, dances, songs, and the playful spirit of camp Ability to “go with the flow” in schedule, people, and program changes Willingness to embrace challenging moments, grow through them, and stay open to learning Ability to learn and use necessary computer software (equivalent of social media)

A continuous improvement mindset to the services provided and your own growth Physical ability to sustain 10+ hour days of activities, functional ability to support facilitation, cleaning, and movement around camp

Certificates / Licenses / Registrations necessary to meet Camp Korey requirements:

Immunization history with current vaccines and boosters including COVID Must obtain CPR/AED certification within first week of employment (can be provided) Acceptable background check clearance

We'd love it if you already have:

Camp experience! Especially leadership or supervisory experience! Even better if it was at a SeriousFun or other specialized camp

Experience facilitating or supporting adaptive recreation or program areas:

Life or professional experience with children ages 4–17 Life or professional experience with individuals with life-altering or complex medical conditions

Experience with public speaking, stage hosting, or MC’ing large group activities:

Communication capability in multiple languages CPR / AED Certification

What you can expect from us:

A positive team environment! Regular, appropriate, and constructive feedback focused on growth and based in compassion

    • Training, support, and healthy boundaries
