Position Summary:
We are seeking a Pantry Chef to join our Burmese/Southeast Asian kitchen team. This role offers the opportunity to showcase the bold, vibrant flavors of Southeast Asian cuisine through careful preparation, consistency, and attention to detail. As part of the kitchen team, you contribute directly to the guest experience by executing dishes to recipe and presentation standards.
The Pantry Cook is responsible for preparing cold and low-heat dishes, sauces, and garnishes while maintaining an organized and efficient station. This is a part-time position with the potential to grow into a full-time role, working five (5) days per week based on performance and business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and plate cold and low-heat menu items, including salads, appetizers, desserts, and garnishes, according to recipe standards
- Execute dishes with attention to flavor balance, texture, and presentation reflective of Burmese and Southeast Asian cuisine.
- Assist with prep work such as chopping, mixing, portioning, and preparing sauces, dressings and condiments
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked pantry station throughout service
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and labeling procedures in compliance with health regulations
- Communicate effectively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service and timely ticket execution
- Support other stations as needed during service and assist with opening and closing duties
- Coordinate ticket timing with the line to ensure all dishes for a table are completed simultaneously
- Monitor product quality and freshness, notify management of any concerns or shortages
- Follow proper kitchen equipment handling and safety procedures
Qualifications:
- Pantry Chef experience is a must (2 + years' experience preferred)
- Strong knowledge of Burmese and Southeast Asian cuisine ingredients, spices and cooking techniques
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen when monitoring attention to detail
- Strong knife skills and ability to prep ingredients efficiently
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 25-50 lbs
- Ability to acquire a food handlers' certification and a sexual harassment certification (before or within 30 days of hire date)
- Bilingual a plus
