Resident Ambassador, Georgetowne Homes - Hyde Park, MA General Statement of Duties: Provides outreach to Georgetowne residents to engage them in educational, recreational, and cultural programming offered at Georgetowne Homes. The Georgetowne Homes Resident Ambassador (RA) will be responsible for recruiting residents to participate in activities at Georgetowne Homes. The Georgetowne Homes Resident Ambassador will be responsible for helping Resident Services and Georgetowne Homes Management communicate important information to residents while helping to foster a positive relationship between Georgetowne staff and residents. The Resident Ambassador’s main focus is to get residents more involved in community life at Georgetowne Homes!
Supervision Received: Reports to Resident Service Coordinator and receives programmatic supervision from the Sr. Resident Service Coordinator and also takes direction from the Property Manager. Essential Functions of the Position: (Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all that may be found in positions of this class).
Community Outreach & Organizing Tasks:
Foster a positive, active and collaborative relationship between and among residents, staff and community partners.
- Conduct outreach to residents about programs and activities.
- Support the implementation of onsite programs by setting up and cleaning up as needed.
- Adhere to company policies, rules and regulations.
- Assist in production and dissemination of monthly newsletter with Computer Learning Ctr. staff and RSC.
Meet weekly with Resident Service Coordinator and fellow Ambassadors.
- Coordinate monthly meeting with RSC and residents in assigned area of property.
- Track community concerns and relay information to Management and Resident Services.
- Recruit youth from Ambassador’s section of the property to participate in a resident youth council.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
High school Diploma or GED, must have a minimum of six (6) months as a resident of Georgetowne Homes. Ambassadors must also be residents in good standing. Good standing is defined as follows: The Resident must be current with his or her rent for at least twelve consecutive months. The Resident must not have been involved in any lease violation within last twelve months. Resident must be in compliance with any agreements regarding prior lease violations without further incidents. All accounts must be paid in full for any monies owed for any Maintenance, Landscape or other miscellaneous charges.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Some knowledge of community organizing and recruitment techniques helpful, ability to engage diverse populations, bilingual/bicultural experience in Spanish and/or Haitian Creole helpful. Ability to connect and engage with residents, earn their trust and motivate them to become a part of the greater Georgetowne Homes Community.
Self-starter with ability to work independently as well as with teams and resident committees. Able and willing to work cooperatively with staff, residents and community partners. Ability to work patiently in an environment that can be challenging. Preserve and respect resident confidentiality. Work Schedule: Flexible, this position will require some regular evening and occasional weekend hours up to five hours a month.
Compensation: $15.00 per hour Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
