Seasonal JOB TITLE: Restaurant Host/Hostess DIVISION: Food & Beverage REPORTS TO: LOCATION: Solitude Village CLASSIFICATION: Part-Time/ Full-Time/ Seasonal/ Hourly POSITION: Starts Dec 25’ through May 26’ The Restaurant Host/Hostess is the first point of contact for guests as they enter a restaurant, providing a warm welcome and creating a positive initial impression.
They manage guest reservations, seating arrangements, and ensure a smooth flow of customers in the dining area. The host/hostess plays a critical role in enhancing the overall dining
experience:
by delivering excellent customer service and maintaining an organized front-of-house environment.

REQUIREMENTS:
Excellent interpersonal and communication
skills:
Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail. Positive attitude and ability to remain composed during busy times. Customer-focused mindset and the ability to create a welcoming atmosphere. Proficiency in handling cash transactions and basic computer systems. Multitasking capability to manage reservations, seating, and guest inquiries simultaneously.
Flexibility to work during peak hours, weekends, and holidays. Previous
experience:
in a customer-facing role, preferably in the hospitality industry. High school diploma or equivalent; additional hospitality training is a plus.

Greet guests as they arrive with a friendly and welcoming demeanor. Escort guests to their assigned tables, taking into account reservations, group sizes, and special requests.
- Manage waiting lists and inform guests
about:
estimated wait times.
- Handle reservation inquiries, both over the phone and in person.
- Maintain an accurate record of reservations, ensuring efficient use of available tables.
Confirm reservations in advance and communicate any special requests to the kitchen and serving staff.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing guests' questions, concerns, and special requests.
Offer menu suggestions, information
about:
daily specials, and assist with dietary restrictions. Accommodate guest preferences and make appropriate seating arrangements. Act as a liaison between guests and the kitchen staff, servers, and management. Relay information
about:
delays, changes in table availability, and special occasions to the appropriate teams.
- Optimize seating arrangements to ensure even distribution of guests and efficient table turnover.
- Maintain a keen awareness of the restaurant's layout and available tables to minimize wait times.
Keep the entrance area and waiting area clean, tidy, and well-organized.
- Ensure menus are clean and available for guests as they arrive.
- Assist in managing the flow of customers to prevent overcrowding.
- Handle cash transactions for reservation deposits, if applicable, and manage any payment processing for waitlist guests.
Inform guests
about:
ongoing promotions, special events, and loyalty programs to enhance their dining
experience:
- Manage difficult situations or customer complaints professionally and escalate issues to management as needed.
